Stretch!
January 23, 2006
This month, I’ve committed to sharing strategies to help you achieve any goals you might have set for the New Year. So far, here’s what we’ve covered.
Strategy 1: Make sure the goal is something you truly want to achieve.
Strategy 1: Make sure the goal is something you truly want to achieve.
Strategy 2: Make sure the goal is consistent with your personal values.
Strategy 3: Make sure your goals are in balance.
Strategy 4: Use positive language.
Strategy 5: Be specific.
Here’s the sixth strategy: Set some stretch goals.
Want to run your own company? Want to lead your organization? Want to bring a major new client to the table? Think these are just dreams? Stretch goals can turn the impossible into reality.
In the early 1960s, when President Kennedy challenged the nation to put a man on the moon within the decade, some laughed. NASA accepted the mission and achieved the goal.
What you will accomplish this year is limited only by the size of your vision. Challenge yourself to accomplish something that may rest slightly out of your reach. Then stretch!
